It was taken over by the University of Delhi in 1979 and became its Department of Social Work.
The first batch of students from the Department had met Mahatma Gandhi and the best written resolutions of the social work students were put together and gifted as the first copy of the accepted oath to the Mahatma and which became our first oath as social work professionals. The Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Department coincide with the 75 years of India’s independence and 100 years of foundation of the University of Delhi. The events have been graced by the presence of University officials, senior alumni from India and abroad and by partner agencies.
The Department continued to function smoothly with minimum impact on teaching-learning pedagogy during the pandemic, with the support of the faculty, students and non-teaching staff working under the able leadership of the Head of the Department. Various milestones were achieved including new recruitments and career advancement promotions. The UGCF for Social Work was framed with active participation of faculty from Department and Colleges and approved.
